About scoopzly

Built by newsroom people, for newsroom people

scoopzly was founded by a team of former reporters, producers and camera operators who kept meeting the same problem: new starters could write a script, but nobody had taught them the workflow — how a story actually moves from a tip-off to a studio report. Course A is our answer.

Diverse team of reporters planning a story around a whiteboard

Our story

scoopzly started as an internal training deck at a regional broadcaster, passed from producer to producer whenever a new reporter joined. We rebuilt it from the ground up into Course A: a structured programme covering story discovery, newsroom planning, studio delivery and camera setup, and opened it up to newsrooms across the United Kingdom.

Today we work with independent newsrooms, in-house corporate studios and freelance reporters who want a repeatable, clean production workflow rather than a pile of disconnected tips.

Our approach

Every module pairs a short planning exercise with hands-on studio time. You will draft a runsheet before you ever step in front of a camera, and you will get direct feedback on your framing, lighting and delivery from someone who reviews footage for a living.

We keep cohorts small on purpose. Reporting workflow is learned by doing it under mild pressure with someone watching — not by reading a slide deck.

What guides Course A

Taught by practitioners

Every session is led by an editor, producer or camera operator who works the beat they teach.

Workflow, not theory

We drill the exact planning and studio steps you will use on your first day back in the newsroom.

Small cohorts

Studio modules cap at six reporters, so everyone gets real time on camera and real feedback.

Certified outcome

Graduates leave with a certificate and a showreel piece ready to share with employers.
